The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited “Dragon Edition” is 100% Factory. Also, did you know that the Jeep Wrangler outsold the Ford Focus last year in the US? Ever since I started using a Jeep Grand Cherokee, I’m realizing I see +2014 Jeep GCs, Cherokees, and Wranglers more often than I see Highlanders, Traverses, or Pilots. Thus, I checked the numbers!
*All tables from GoodCarBadCar.net :
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Between the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Wrangler, Jeep sold
618,920
vehicles last year. Subaru sold
582,675
vehicles and Kia sold
625,818
vehicles. If the Jeep Wrangler were a luxury brand, it would have been the 4th highest selling luxury brand of 2015.
(That order would be: Mercedes, BMW, Lexus,
Wrangler
, Audi, Cadillac).
I’ll also mention Jeep was the 6th best selling brand in the US in 2015. The Top Ten rankings being: Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Jeep , Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, GMC.
Here are the stats for the first quarter of 2016 in the US:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
*Note the rankings are in “Vehicles Sold in March 2016,” not “Total Sold YTD.”
The Ford Focus is beating the Wrangler, but the Hyundai Elantra isn’t so lucky.
So does reliability, comfort, convenience, efficiency, and safety matter to consumers.
Yes! Of course!!
However, when you already own a vehicle with all those traits, what do you buy next? Something completely different. It’s the American Way!
By the way, kind of interesting to have a Jeep Wrangler pay homage to Chinese culture. It’s like an automotive Fortune Cookie (if you know the story behind those).

I like the JDM RHD version and the fact that it’s actually sold to the public. Too bad no manual on the RHD tho, and they really need to start offering that diesel like they promised. I’d totally rock a diesel RHD manual Wrangler :)
Oh, and why no SRT Wrangler? WTF?

All dreams can come true with the right amount of time, talent, and treasure. Oh, and crazy! Batshit works better than Elbow Grease.

Yep. I knew that there was a Dragon Edition. Yes I almost want one. Also there’s a Kaiser Dragon. But that was a trim level and they didn’t want to call their new interior material vinyl.

Killing your customers is generally discouraged?

How much of the top 3 is fleet based sales though?
4-9,11,15,17 and 19 are all cheap econoboxes basically. Most can be had in 10-20k area with bare bones options. Some of those are probably the affordable leasing deals that I see being offered on them.
The others between 4-19 are smaller SUVs that are probably only currently popular due to gas prices. The fact that they are slightly bigger than a car, offer a little more room to tote the kids and their stuff around.
It is surprising to see the Jeep Wrangler in the top 25 for 2016.
I account for 3 of the Ram P/Us in 2015. All 3 of mine were 5500 Diesels. 2 of the 3 are the bare bones models, and the last one was specifically for me and it’s a Laramie model with alot of options.
The Sierra from GMC might as well be counted with the Chevys. whats the difference beyond the badge, the front end and maybe some options? Not much.
1,2,3 and the Explorer could be also from Gov’t, Police and Fire depts buying them. Until a Japanese brand makes a heavy duty dually truck, 1,2 and 3 are probably staying that way. I think Top Gear said Ford sells an F150 every 20 seconds and a Silverado every 30 seconds during their last season Richard Hammond on a snow mountain rescue.

Probably should have told GM and Takata that.

Jeep as a brand, selling exclusively SUVs, sells more cars than Hyundai. Which I think is kind of crazy. They aren’t selling cheap cars, a lot of the Cherokees are pretty decently equipped, as are many Wranglers. The Grand Cherokee base MSRP is higher than the average transaction price of a new car. So it’s pretty incredible what they are doing, sales wise. It’s no wonder they ran two Superbowl commercials instead of one Jeep and one Fiat like I was expecting (and hoping! The Fiat ones are generally pretty fun).

Well to be fair, Takata was just killing the end user, not their customer. GM... well. there’s a fine line behind incompetence and malice.

Still a sell! The equipment is different, and the incentives are about the same as the dealers and consumers in the end. All great points!

Yea, I looked at the Wrangler before buying my Stang. It probably took me a few good months to make my mind up on what I wanted to buy and own for a while.
I looked at different cars, from SUVs to econoboxes. I Just wanted to weigh the different options and really look into what would fit me. In the end I bought something I’ve secretly wanted for a while. Then I heard ab0ut the Ecoboost in the Stang and it settled it.
My current company parking lot has 5 Ram 5500's, 1 F450, 3 5 car Trailers, 2 4 Car trailers, and 1 3 car trailer. My R6. My Fit and whenever I’m there the Stang.
Along with 3 friends bikes, and a few cars from friends and family that have an extra car, but don’t quite have the space at home.
It’s a mess of cars and trucks, but it works. I need to charge my family and friends storage on their junk so it moves out faster lol.

Cheap gas. Jeeps everywhere in TX. Also, I saw one if those Dragon Editions Jeeps on my commute last month. Knew about them, still did a huge double take.

I saw a Jeep Wrangler on the back of a flatbed today. That thing had rolled so hard, there wasn’t one piece of metal that wasn’t wrinkled on it. High CG, bad mojo at speed.

I really figure if they were ever going to put a V8 in a modern production wrangler, they’d have done it. From the 5.9 to the 4.7 to the hemis. They just don't need the sales and the single engine works...
